Phoenix, Arizona will be the venue for binational events regarding health

From September 20 to 22, 2016 the annual meetings of the Ventanillas de Salud and of the Council Adviser, as well as the Themed Binational Network in Border Health (RTBSF in Spanish) will take place in the University of Arizona facilities in Phoenix. The three events will be inaugurated jointly on Tuesday September 20 at 9:00 am by officials and academics from Mexico and the United States.

Annual Conference of Ventanillas de Salud

The Institute for Mexicans Abroad (IME in Spanish) and the Secretariat of Health in Mexico call, once a year traditionally, the representatives of lead agencies to the Conference of Ventanillas de Salud (VDS in Spanish). This is an opportunity to interact with representatives of the network of ventanillas and discuss mutual subjects of interest. In this occasion, the Conference of Ventanillas de Salud will take place from September 19 to 21. One of the purposes of this meeting this year will be the training of staff that operate Ventanillas de Salud in the management of the new data collection system, in the management of the micro-site of Ventanillas, and in diagrams of the project distribution nationally. The assistance of the agencies of Ventanillas de Salud is part of the acquired compromises for the operation of the program. Council Advisor for the Ventanillas de Salud Network

The VDS network counts, since 2012, with an advisor group formed by specialists, leaders in health sectors and attention to immigrants, ties with philanthropic sectors which bring, in voluntary form, their experience, vision, and contacts in public health subjects to strengthen the objectives of VDS and their strategic plan. To this day, Ventanillas de Salud counts with eight members, who will meet on Thursday September 22, at University of Arizona in Phoenix. This reunion has the objective of informing the Council about the progresses on the strengthen services, interventions, research projects, and financial opportunity.

The Themed Binational Network in Border Health.

The Themed Binational Network in Border Health (RTBSF) will have a Second annual Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona, on September 20 and 21, 2016. In this meeting, researchers from Border States from Mexico and the United States will be present. The objective of this second meeting is to articulate the researchers’ actions, contribute in the integrations of work areas, discuss the progresses created by the regional hubs, dialogue about the work plan for 2017, and contribute to the training of Human Resources of high level through a workshop named “Elaboración de propuestas ganadoras” (Development of winning proposals). All these activities will take place from a cross-sectional and binational multidisciplinary perspective.

The RTBSF is result of the dialogue and work joint with expert researchers in the border health area. This network has received finance for a second consecutive year for the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT in Spanish) of Mexico, under the responsibility of the Commission of Border Health Mexico-United States, Mexico section, an institute with wide experience in the border health field.
