IV. Program to strengthen the abilities for researchers and academics in Border Health of the Binational Network Border Health

The complexity of the health related needs in the 10 Border States of Mexico and the United States makes evident the need of new dynamics of attention that will be possible through to the partnership between agents of the healthcare sector, of the academy, and civil society organizations that have better tools and a higher degree of training every day. The great challenge is addressing to the most important needs of the Border Health issues. In order to achieve this objective, the Binational Border Health Thematic Network has designed a strategic program to strengthen the abilities of border health researchers and academics, which is part of the education, development, and human resources training programme. It also consists in implementing training courses for specific topics detected or declared by the same members of the Network.

Objectives
• To strengthen the abilities for preparation of research proposals among the participants of the network and/or other agents associated with the border health.
• To strengthen the abilities of knowledge transmission among the participants of the network and/or other agents associated with the border health.
• To promote the active participation and strengthen the inter-agency cooperation to promote the generation, transmission, and spreading of knowledge in the field of border health.
• To contribute to the training of young researchers.
• To develop spaces for the dissemination of research activities.
• To increase the resources for the development of the research on border health.
• To promote the development of groups of work and lines of research among the members of the network.

I. Components

In order to achieve its objectives, the program is focused on four components:

  1. Preparation of research proposals based on logical framework.
The development of research proposals is the primary stage in the development of science and technology. A relevant approach of a research proposal and a work plan increase the possibilities of finding the answer to the questions that urge on science.
  2. – Preparation of research projects based on the methodology of the logical framework and focused on strategic planning.
